| Many people are aware of climate change and agree that action to mitigate
its causes is necessary, however, only a small percentage of people currently
take action themselves. Climate Cool – Society focuses on the role people can
play in combating the future impact of climate change by altering their behaviour
now. |

Programme Introduction
The Eco-Office Evaluation Programme provides a new perspective on environmental education and what a "green" office is. University students are trained to conduct a structured survey of offices and issue a report with suggestions on how to make the offices more eco-friendly and consequently raise awareness and develop better behavior pattern in workplace practices.
The programme is a partnership among Roots & Shoots in Shanghai, the Jane Goodall Institute China, Roots & Shoots Beijing Office, British Council China and ERM China. The audit is free of charge for companies.
Evaluation Process

2) Staff Surveys: Students ask employees simple, quick questions about their office habits
3) Staff Interview: Students interview a representative from the company's administrative department.

Experience Sharing:
To date, nearly 97 companies have taken part in the Programme in Shanghai. All participating companies have given positive feedback and many have implemented policies suggested in the audit reports.
"The students were excellent and well-trained, and cooperated happily with our staff. They were quite professional in their report."- Microsoft Shanghai, May 2007
"Arup Shanghai is extremely pleased with the outcome of the Eco-office evaluation and the suggestions presented. Despite having worked the sustainability sector for quite some time, it is important for Arup to be reminded of how to make our own working environment greener, and the students have definitely helped us identify the areas where we need to improve. We look forward to working with them in the future, especially as we strive to improve our practices." - ARUP Shanghai, November 2007
"Throughout the whole audit process, the students seem very confident and responsible. Their questions cover a wide range of area, including the re-visit afterwards. Their performance deserves an 'A'." - Atlantic Yellow Pages Shanghai, May 2007
