Many people are aware of climate change and agree that action to mitigate its causes is necessary, however, only a small percentage of people currently take action themselves. Climate Cool – Society focuses on the role people can play in combating the future impact of climate change by altering their behaviour now.

What can we do to enhance sustainable consumption?

Seminar of Sino-foreign experts on youth's consumption and
climate change

Living in a grand mansion, driving a large sedan, buying luxury goods,
consuming more of everything…. to-day, ubiquitous advertisements
induce people to possess more and more.
However, the earth's vital resources are rapidly being depleted which means if people continue to consume in this way, even providing them with another earth will not satisfy their endless needs.

However, as consumers, how many people have realised the gravity of these problems? And how many people would like to control their desires and change their consumption habits? At present, the public's awareness, especially of the consequences of young people's consumption values, will have a decisive influence on whether the economy of China can maintain sustainable development.

China Youth Daily and the British Embassy are cooperating in holding a series of activities under the theme of "Pay Close Attention to Climate Change and Sustainable Consumption". On 16th May, we invited well-known experts from home and abroad to come together to look for viable solutions. At the same time, articles are being sought as part of the "Sustainable Consumption of Youth" activity.
