Young Climate Change Awareness Ambassador programme aims to increase understanding of climate change and to encourage positive actions by engaging students aged 12 to 22, both in school and in university. Workshops and training activities are delivered to help Climate Champions gain better understanding about climate change and low carbon alternatives and to improve their ability to communicate climate change issues to their peers and the wider public. The programme also facilitates networking and dialogue among Climate Champions from different parts of China as well as from around the world.
From 2nd to 6th September in 2010, a select group of young people from across the world concerned about climate change gathered in Shanghai for a dedicated exploration of economic solutions to reducing carbon in the world today.
The International Youth Forum on Climate Finance bought together 38 young people from 16 countries including China to develop a shared understanding of the financial issues related to climate change. The young people not only discussed and debated different climate change finance solutions, but also agreed on a Declaration of International Youth Forum on Climate Finance announced on 6 September.

In August 2010, 140 passionate and ambitious Climate Champions were selected from our Green Your School Competition. They came from nine cities in China: Beijing, Tianjin, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Kunming, Foshan, Dongguan and Hong Kong. They gathered in Hangzhou from 5 August to 12 August for a week-long
Climate Champions Camp. Based on the theme ‘Low-carbon City’, the camp was intended to help the Climate Champions to better understand climate change and its solutions, especially in the field of low-carbon cities. During the camp, they not only received training on climate change-related topics, but also deepened their understanding through creative means such as lectures, workshops, field trips, and public engagement activities.

They went on field trips in Baoshan and Lijiang, visiting experts and farmers, and investigated the impact of climate change, especially disastrous weather conditions, on the local biodiversity and agricultural activities. They then presented solutions to tackle climate change in the area. Please click to see the short film made on the
