Group Activity (Introduce the concept of low carbon living, use the subject “Food Mile” to demonstrate how imported food is damaging the environment and releasing large sum of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Then a hands on group activity that require students to use local grown fruit to make salad for everybody to share)

Travel to “Li Keng” domestic waste incineration facility (Li Keng is the only facility of its kind in Guangzhou that incinerates waste for electricity generation; its technological application and operation mechanism matches European standard.)

11:00-13:45

Return to the city, have lunch

14:15-14:45

An expert in Global Warming and Rising Sea Level is invited to give a brief talk on how water level rising has affected Guangzhou and its urban design

14:50-15:50

Travel to Tianzi Dock (Tianzi Dock has been part of Guangzhou for centuries, changes and modification have been done to it will give students an opportunity to see the effects of rising sea level for themselves)

16:00-18:00

Walking visit alongside the bank of Pearl River

Travel to Zhangmutou in Dongguan

11:15-12:30

Visit Guanyin Mountain Museum of ancient trees (Through carbon dating and species identification of varies previously buried ancient trees, this museum offers a unique insight into climate change via the historical development of plantation in the Pearl River Delta. Student will be accompanied by a professor in this study.)
